NURUL HANIS HASHIM' WROTE ON GLOBAL CITIZEN

SK Sri Suria 1's ex-student, Nurul Hanis bt Hashim had won an article writing competition held by the British Council and the prize was a trip to Taiwan! Congratulations! We are proud of you Hanis. Keep it up!

I’M A GLOBAL CITIZEN

There is no other place like this word. A place full of life. People of different races, cultures and religions. First of all, I’m proud to be a global citizen because for me all of us have the responsibility to make this world a better place to live. This colorful and beautiful place is called Earth.

As a global citizen, it is my duty to gather all my friends and family to join forces to save the Earth. The world would be a far better place if WE (I, the global citizen and my family and friends the global citizens) all believe we are citizens of the world. However, for those who ignore this responsibility, it is impossible to make this world as perfect as we want it. We have to take action and unite together so that we can preserve our planet. Being global citizen means that we have responsibilities not just to each other but to the Earth herself.

To unite together, we have to learn to be good in nature. To be good in nature, we must first learn how to tolerate with each other. We are all humans; therefore we are already linked to one and another. Therefore, we should respect other people's ways of lives no matter you are black or white, brown or yellow. Being egocentric will divide us even further, thus disable us to unite. Unity is a very important element of being global citizenship because if we unite together, we will achieve more and more things for instance justice, power and peace. As they say ‘all for one and one for all’.

We should also open our mind on how to create a peaceful place for everyone regardless of their skin colours, race and religions. We all have our differences so it is alright to try out something new. For instance, why not try to make kites like Asian people do for traditional games. This simple act means that we share and give, and at the same time, we gain and learn about other cultures.

We also want a greener world. To achieve a greneer world, we need to protect the forest, therefore logging should be controlled. Governments should take serious action if someone does illegal logging. If all the trees in this world is cut out, the ozone layer of the Earth becomes thinner, thus it will cause the rising of the Earth temperature. We will plant new trees to ensure the Earth's temperature stay cool.

As a global citizen, let's care about the others. Give our sympathy to poor and war-torn countries. Help them with all the strength that we got; and I, the global citizen, believe some day we could share our happiness together. We should plan the future so that the future generations will have a better world to live. In other words, The Future is in Our Hands.
